Welcome to the official Convent Glen Orléans Wood Community Association Forum on Discord! Our goal is to foster a positive and supportive online community for our members. To ensure a respectful and engaging environment, we have established a set of principles you can read below.

Signing Up
You can sign up for the Community Forum as a resident, business owner, or community resource in the catchment area of the Community Association. Visit the following link to join the community (and create an account if you don’t have one):
Purpose
- Facilitating Communication: A community association Discord group serves as a platform for members to communicate, share information, and stay updated on news, events, and initiatives within the community.
- Building Community Engagement: It provides a space for community members to engage with each other, fostering a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and connection among residents.
- Information Sharing: The group serves as a hub for sharing important updates, announcements, local resources, and relevant information regarding community activities, services, and events.
- Facilitating Discussions: It allows for discussions on various community-related topics, providing a forum for residents to express opinions, ask questions, share ideas, and discuss issues affecting the neighborhood.
- Promoting Community Involvement: It encourages participation in community projects, volunteer opportunities, and local initiatives, fostering a proactive and engaged community spirit.
- Offering Support: Members can seek or offer support, advice, and recommendations, creating a supportive network within the community.
- Enhancing Transparency and Accountability: It allows association leaders to transparently communicate decisions, policies, and initiatives, fostering accountability and trust within the community.
- Promoting Events and Activities: The group serves as a platform to promote and organize local events, gatherings, organizational fundraisers, or initiatives that benefit the community.
- Providing a Feedback Channel: It offers a channel for residents to provide feedback, suggestions, or concerns directly to the association leaders, facilitating better community representation and responsiveness.
- Strengthening Community Bonds: Ultimately, the group aims to strengthen the bonds between residents, associations, and local stakeholders, creating a vibrant and engaged community.
Membership
- Members must reside or operate a business in the CGOWCA catchment area or the catchment area of an adjacent community association. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of administrators of the group for other relevant stakeholders.
- Members agree to the Rules and Policies listed below.
Rules and Policies
- Respectful Conduct:
- Treat all members with courtesy and respect. Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, personal attacks, or any form of abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Engage in constructive discussions and debates. Disagreements are acceptable, but maintain a civil tone and avoid personal attacks (focus on ideas and not individuals, present facts).
- Treat moderators with respect and don’t publicly question moderation actions on group posts. Moderators are volunteers who do their best to foster a good group environment.
- Relevant Content:
- Share content that is relevant to the community and aligns with the goals and interests of the CGOWCA as described in the above Purpose statement
- Avoid spam, irrelevant promotions, or any content that is solely intended for self-promotion, unless in an appropriate channel.
- Some posts such as offering to donate goods should be directed to other groups in the area built for these functions.
- No Offensive Material:
- Do not post or share content that includes profanity, nudity, explicit violence, or any material that could be considered offensive or inappropriate for our diverse community.
- Fundraising:
- Fundraising is allowed for groups and associations. Individual fundraisers will be allowed on an exceptional basis (e.g. person needing funds to go to a world championship, incapacitating injury or illness).
- Authenticity and Transparency:
- Represent yourself authentically and use real identities. Impersonation, fake profiles, or misleading information will result in removal from the group/page.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest when promoting products, services, or affiliations.
- Compliance with Laws and Regulations:
- Respect copyright laws. Do not post copyrighted material without proper authorization or attribution.
- Do not share illegal, fraudulent, or misleading content.
- Moderation and Enforcement:
- Admins and moderators have the right to remove any content or members that violate these guidelines without notice.
- Multiple violations may result in temporary or permanent bans from the group/page or other moderation action.
- Appeals to the board regarding moderation and enforcement can be made by members of the Convent Glen Orléans Woods Community Association. Appeals must include a proof of membership (i.e. proof of residence in the catchment area) and a letter explaining the situation and reasons why the moderation actions were inappropriate.
- Reporting and Conflict Resolution:
- Report any inappropriate behavior or content to the group/page administrators or moderators.
- Contact admins directly for conflict resolution rather than engaging in public arguments.
- Acknowledgment:
By participating in this group/page, you acknowledge and agree to abide by these moderation guidelines.
